Rose's Bead Jewelry

      My daughter, Rose, enjoys many art forms.  Earlier this year she started making bead jewelry.  She went several places to buy the beads she wanted for her jewelry.  When she was just starting out, she bought some craft kits to learn the basics, which you can do with your children. 

     All of you can go to your favorite craft store, or the craft section of your favorite general merchandise store and pick out a couple of simple kits to begin with.  They don't have to be expensive, but it will let you see if this is something that you all would like to continue doing as a family or not.  Or it may turn out that only a couple of you like it.  You can continue with the members who enjoy it, and search for something the other members would like to work on.

     When Rose started making the bead jewelry she made necklaces with Jordan and Jeremiah's names on them.  These necklaces had a couple of purposes.  They weren't just identification I.D.s for the boys.  The twins were starting pre-kindergarten and were learning many new things, including how to spell their names. 

• This was a wonderful way for them to learn to identify the individual letters - "J - O - R - D - A - N" and  "J - E - R - E - M - I - A - H". 
• Each was able to see that while their names started with the same letter both names had different letters in it
• Each learned to spell his own name and the name of his brother
• When they went to Pre-K they were able to recognize names spelled like their own or their brother's
